Week 16 Highlights

Whitewater World: It was a cold, grey, wet day which made it a great day to go to Whitewater World because everyone else would be going to Dream World or Movie World. We found a parking spot in the almost vacant car park, showed our fancy passes to the entry guards, then raced over to the Blue Ringed Octopus (BRO). In no time at all we were sitting at the top of the slide about to launch ourselves down. We were given the all-clear so I launched myself through the tube. The tube opened into a set of 8 slides lining up next to each other. I was marginally ahead of Dad and miles in front of Emily and Levi, but the result in the end was the same as on the Super 8 Lane Racer at Wet ‘n’ Wild. I came second to Dad – how despicable!

Shortly after exiting the BRO we went over to the Temple Of Huey. We grabbed a tube before scaling the staircase to the water slides. There were four to choose from which were; Broken Headz; Right Hander; the Green Python; and the Little Rippers. The first slide I ventured down was the Little Rippers. I started going down a straight chute then came out into a bowl type thing, spinning around this twice then exiting through a hole into a pool of water. It was so awesome and just so enjoyable that I did it again and again. While at this complex I went down all the waterslides. They were all very cool but they weren’t amazing in comparison to the Tornado.

I was getting rather bored because all these slides weren’t as exhilarating as the Aqualoop or the Mach 5. However, I saw something on the map which caught my eye, it was the Hydro Coaster. My heart was racing, I had goose bumps all over me and I was about to wet myself – the latter because I was freezing. Levi and I dropped down a 70° slope before reaching the bottom. I was wondering how they would power us up the other side. Well, however they did it, it worked because in 5 seconds or so Levi and I were accelerated up the other slope. We repeated this at least four or five times before coming down for the last time and finishing the ride by crashing into a pool of water. I was FREEZING!

Repeats: Throughout the rest of the week we returned to all of the theme parks either trying new rides or repeating the most legendary ones. There were three rides that I tried for the first time which were; The Giant Drop; Tower Of Terror; and the Flo Rider.

The first ride I tried for size was the Tower Of Terror :o . Emily and I were strapped into our seats. My heart was thumping like a drum in my chest (which is much more ripped than Dad’s) and it felt like a mega group of butterflies had found a way into my belly. 5… 4… 3… 2… wait… I’m too young to die …1 …Swoosh! We were launched backwards down a long, dark tunnel at 161 km/h. While we were flying through the dark corridor it felt like the tunnel was getting smaller. I was suddenly 80 metres up a huge tower facing head-first down at the ground. Without any delay we were being shot back through the tunnel at bedazzling speeds. As quickly as it started, it all was over.

Emily and I met up with the others and we walked over to the Flo Rider. Earlier in the day Levi and I had booked a session for 3:30pm and now it was time to Flo Ride. The adrenalin was coursing through my body and I was so nervous. Levi and I were Flo Riding for half an hour, I did some pretty, gnarly tricks and so did Levi. It was so fun and radical that I loved it! But, sadly, all good things must come to an end. (How will I convince Mum to put one in the backyard???)

Before we were about to leave Emily wanted to go on The Giant Drop so we waited while she lined up. I couldn’t handle it. I wasn’t going to stand by and watch Emily be more manly than me, so I quickly sprinted over to join the queue. Once strapped in and ready to go we began the slow, long ascent to the top of the tower. At the top we were so high up I swear I could have seen Busselton from there – except I don’t swear!

I was so worried, not because I am afraid of heights but because I knew what was going to happen next.
Then we dropped. It was absolutely horrible! It felt like my seat had fallen out from underneath me. I was finding it hard to breathe because all the oxygen was being sucked out of me like I’d been kicked in the guts by Chuck Norris. I hate this feeling. Why did I put myself through this torture? Luckily it was all over in a matter of seconds and once unharnessed I was out of there without delay. It felt so good to have solid ground beneath me. I despise that ride!
