Week 13 Highlights

It was good to leave Sydney because it was the biggest capital city and it was very busy. We went to stay in a place called Broke, near the Hunter Valley. The Hunter Valley was a bit boring for me because there was a lot of wineries and we couldn’t drink anything. Mum and Dad were happy to visit the wineries but all the kids were bored, except when we got to go to the smelly cheese shop. I love cheese it is my favourite food.

The place where we camped was nice because you could light a fire, we played cricket in a nice big area. When we went to collect some fire wood we found a witchetty grub which was very exciting. When we cut up the wood for the fire we found more grubs, altogether we found twenty one. I was interested to taste the witchetty grub, but also a bit nervous. We cooked the first one on the fire in a fry pan, we were all nervous to taste and I got the courage to go first. It tasted very nutty and it had a strong flavour. I sort of liked it but I didn’t want any more. We only cooked a couple and set the rest of the grubs free.

After we left Broke we drove up to Tamworth and stayed near there at a place called Chaffey Dam. I thought that the dam was cool because it had a place to go fishing and a big hill to run up and down. Unfortunately we didn’t catch anything and we even lost a lure! It was nice to have a warm shower at Chaffey Dam after missing out in Broke.

This week was quieter than the week in Sydney, I liked that, it was more relaxing.
