Day 107: More Caravan Repairs

With little else to do today it was time to get into some more repairs. Just before we arrived at this caravan park we noticed the side of the van opening up a little. As it didn’t look too drastic we took note of it but didn’t spend much thinking time on it. However, when we finally rolled into the park the side was now gaping open and the side wall was flapping in the breeze.

While it didn’t affect the van once we had stopped, we put the repair project on hold until today. So, the first stop was Bunnings at Harbour Town for a few hardware items.

While the issue wasn’t complicated to repair, a piece of timber holding the front together had come away and pulled the side open with it, getting at it was no easy proposition. In fact, we had to dismantle the bed in order to get to the root of the problem.

However, after a few hours rearranging the van and filling the floor with a million screws we were able to start pulling the side back into place and “welding” it together with a few tek screws. While it doesn’t look pretty it is certainly far more functional and has given the side hatch a little more strength in the meantime.

Heck, plus it was like old times spending another Saturday working on the van!
