Week 9 Highlights

Cygnet: As I’m sure you have all found out by now is that we became stranded in a town called Cygnet after the all mighty Patrol’s clutch gave up. I know that everyone has probably made it sound like a bad thing, but I kind of liked it after all we were in a caravan park opposite a footy field. Also I liked the fact that we were in a small town instead a large city because it was so relaxing and serene. Mum, on the other hand, thought it was terrible and so boring being stuck in such an unpopulated region.

I should probably tell you how it all started so you know what happened. It all started when Mum and Dad decided to go for a drive to look at all the wineries in the Huon Valley region, they decided that the first place we were going was a winery past Woodbridge Hill. Everything was going fine on the trip there but, when we were heading back we were faced with a hill of epic proportions and that’s were we broke down, just at the crest of this hill. We were stuck nearly at the top of this hill with no phone service and miles from any large town. But just as things had gone absoloutly pear shaped we saw someone driving towards us in a white, single cab ute, that looked like it had seen better days. We started to wave at him frantically trying to gain his attention but he mearly waved back and turned left down a gravel road, a road we hadn’t yet discovered but now it seemed almost impossible to miss. We came to a quick decision, we would trek down the long, winding, gravel driveway in hope to find some help. Once we had walked along the track we came to a large house on the top of a hill, the hill had been cleared of all trees and replaced by a variety of plants that made the vista even more beautiful. We walked to the house where we were greeted by two, friendly strangers they invited us inside. We told them what had happened so they helped us out as much as they could. Firstly they helped us by ringing every mechanic they knew, then we found out they owned a truck with a flatbed trailer which was very helpful indeed.

After hours and hours we finally sorted everything out, met some lovely people, and now were stuck in Cygnet for a week at best. As a result of this we stayed in our caravan most of the time our played footy at the oval across the river. After four or so days in Cygnet we were called by the mechanic person who informed us that he couldn’t fix our car so he was sending it to some other place that specialized in brakes and clutches. What a turn of events. The following day we were informed that our car was fixed!

Hobart, Appartment: Mum came up with the genius idea that instead of just going to Hobart, getting the car and then returning to the cold and the rain we would go and stay in an appartment for 2 nights. When we got to the appartment with the car it was so awesome because it was like 13 times bigger than our caravan and it had a TV!!! We chilled out there for two days watching movies, eating pizza and walking around the huge space we occupied. Sadly all good things must come to an end, which meant we had to leave and head back to our misserable little caravan that had become our home.
