Week 8

On Saturday morning in Hobart we went to the markets, which was pretty bad because it was pouring with rain. Mum bought an umbrella but I still got wet. It was going to be Father’s day on Sunday so we got some honey, noughart, and other food for dad. Finally we went home from the markets we were very cold and wet.
Father’s day was good because we had bacon and eggs, went to watch Carlton play footy at the Wrest Point Casino and then had fish and chips for dinner. I like going out with my family.

On Tuesday we drove to a camp spot in Fortescue Bay and set up near a jetty and a lovely river. We quickly did our jobs so we could go fishing off the Jetty. My brother Jordan caught a fish and so did dad. I was disappointed that I didn’t catch a fish but I was happy for Jordan and Dad. We cooked the fish after dinner, they tasted OK. Dad’s fish was a bit slimey and when we checked the fish book we saw it was a snotty trevalley which was gross, because they blow snot all on themselves to protect themselves from other fish. YUK! We ate fish snot.

We went to Port Arthur which was a place where convicts would come to jail when Australia was first settled. I learnt about what life would be like for convicts, and I would hate to be a convict. They had to wear leg irons if they were naughty or tried to escape. They also didn’t get much food, just enough to keep them alive. If they were naughty they had to go in a separate room which was very small, I wouldn’t like it at all to be stuck in a little cell. I am happy that we don’t have to live in the olden days because we have better stuff now and I like eating food.
