Sunday 22nd Kryle Castle and Bendigo
This day seemed like it was going to be the best so far, yet somehow it managed to turn out being the worst, entirely it did get better. Our first and hopefully last destination today was Kryle Castle we had come here because of dad’s awesome memories from when he was young everything sounded amazing and we were all eager to go. The only problem was that it was 30 years ago that dad visited the place and obviously it showed in every room. The castle was meant to represent the medieval days, So far the only room to comply to that assumption was the torcher chamber which seeme a little to grusome to experience yet my curiousity over ruled my first impression and I wandered into the room behind Dad. Yet after experiecing the wax models being cut in half and hooked through the stomach and hung I still didn’t seem to get the picture that it was not a pretty sight. After obliging to follow dad out of the room we went and had a look at itty bitty world. I somehow felt sorry for dad that everything had turned out not exactley how it used to be. After desperatly trying to find something worth looking at we climbed the huge tower in the middle of the castles barrier to see the Glass Blower! Sounds exciting huh? ,yeah well, when we reached the top of the tower the only thing that was living and doing any movement was a rat up in the roof. I think Dads dreams were finally shattered enough by the sight of seeing Sleeping Beauty in place of the glass blower ergently we tried to escape from there and this time succeded.
Because the day wasn’t nearly over yet. We decided to go and have a look around the Brilliant Bendigo. We first went to the information centre to find out what we could do. One of the ideas was to go to the Central Deborah Gold Mine. We did an 1hr 30min tour to explore the place. I thought it was Awesome. One of my favourite parts was we go to go down the mine shaft elavator thing which was what the miners used in those days. Feeling satisfied we had a worth while excursion we drove back home to our cozy little caravan.
Tuesday 24th Mt Baw Baw
Today was the whole reason we came this way around Australia. To see SNOW! I think everyone wanted it to be the best day yet,Particualy because none of us have seen snow yet, except for dad. Our prefered destination today was the marvelous Mt Baw Baw, but first we had to hire all the essential items to stay warm; boots, pants, jackets and even for leisure Taboggans! Now we were all set for a day in the snow!
The drive to the tipitty top of the mountain had to be the worst road we’ve driven on, on this trip so far it was just bend after bend after bend. Finally after nearly getting to the top we saw the first patches of snow on the side of the road. Not really the pure white snow that has just fallen but kind of the mooshy brown snow. Fortunatley we arrived at the snow resort safe and sound and the snow there was deffinatly how I imagined it to be and more. Our first stop was the taboggan run. This taboggan run was all smooth an nice and you got great speed. We had a couple of races down the run and after a while I stopped to make a SNOWMAN.
I had built the snowman on my taboggan so I could go down the taboggan run with it. I was so closed to finished and ready to zooom! down the hill when DAD came and KICKED OVER MY SNOWMAN! I was so upset I’d just spent half and hour to an hour working on the thing when my father decideds to come and kick it over! Unfortunatly I didn’t have time to build another snowman beacuse we were going to the other taboggan run which had a lot more bumps and turns and mud piles. Woohoo! I had a few turns going down the hill when Jordan and I noticed a table at the top of the hill which had snow on it and a snow ramp down the front side. So we poisitined our selves on top of the table then went down it and the rest of the hill it was so fun!
When i had crashed into the Bush land onthe side of the run i had noticed three round snowballs all different sizes one was big one was medium and one was small all perfect for making A SNOWMAN! yayy this time I wasn’t going to let Dad destroy it. I had put all the snow particles on my taboggan and was treking up the hill with my discovery as soon i was at the top i set to work on the snowman finally finished I put a scarf and a carrot on my beloved Snowman! Dad took a photo and i was Content i had done all I wanted to do and more. The only thing left on the list was a …………………………… S….N…..O…W….B….A……L….L… ..F…I….G..H…T……! yay and it did come Dad, Miriam and I were against Levi and Jordan. You could pretty much expect who one Moi and Dad. Finally happy i had accomplished everything we re ventured down the road. Today was deffinatly the best day yet.
Wednesday 25th
Happy Birthday Noah!
Thursday 26th Levi’s Birthday
Today was a quiet early start especially because we had a dedline to get to our/Levi’s suprise in time. Today was Levi’s 9th Birthday he was very excited and decided to rise early (but not to early) for his presents. We all sat around snuggled up on mum and dad’s bed while levi excitedly unwrapped all his presents. From Miriam and moi he got “Deal or No Deal”, from jordan he got a lego plush toy, and from mum and dad he got “Monopoly City”, A Saint Kilda Jumper and a Soccerroos jersey.
After we had breakfast and had packed a picnic we we’re ready to head of to the suprise. Jordan, Levi, Miriam and I had no idea where we were going but mum and dad kept on reasurring us it wad going to be fun. The whole trip us kids asked questions about what we were going to do. Mum and Dad decided to give us a clue which was absolutely not helpful at all they said ” it’s all about the Journey not the destinatoion” I mean were smart but driving in our car wasn’t that amazing. Toward the end of the journey though Dad told us to look out for signs and “MOI” was the first one to spot “IT”……… The journey was a steam train ride ….and the destination was lakeside a park. Finally i had figured out what our big surprise was and we were all stoked to go on the Puffing Billy.
We boarded the train at 10:30am and the train was on its way. At the first interval we got to go up the front and have a look at the stema engine and how it worked it wa pretty cool and i got to blow the whistle.
At about 11:00 we were at the destination and straight away plunged into our picnic. It was yummo! We decided to leave the cake and other sweets until we got home because the weather wasn’t how we expected it to be it was freezing! So we packed up all our gear and had a look at the miniture railway world thing it was awesome i loved it. At 12:30 we hopped back on the train and this time we found an open window area were Levi, Miriam and I stuck our legs out the window and sat on the ledge it was heaps fun.
Later that afternoon when we got home we had the cake and sang happy birthday. But the thing i was most looking forward to was tonight.
Tonight we were going out to dinner at an italion resteraunt down Lygon Street. I was a bit hasty at going here first because of the shooting. But i soon got over my nerves when i realised how fun it was you could just walk up and down the street and managers from the shop would come and spook, oops i mean sprook you. Sprooking is what the company does to make you feel they’re giving you a better deal than the other guys down the street. I loved it.
But we soon mad up or minds and decided to stay at a family run buisness called “Alpinos”. The deal was that Levi got a free dessert and us kids got free drinks and the kids meals were only $9 instead of $14. after dinner we caught the tram back to our car and drove home.
Friday 27th Phillip Island
At 12pm today we were in for another suprise for family night/day. Today we were going to Phillip Island home of the grand prix. So our first ideal spot was the Philip Island Race course itself. But unfortunatly we were not alowed to drive in a reall car so we just did the go kart course. I so wanted to do the track but unfortunatluy i had to pay for my own expenses whichI was not willing to do. So instead i watched Jordan, Levi an dDad frollick around in the go karts. After the races we left to go and watch the penguin Parae which was highly over priced might I add. But it was still an amazing sight to watch the little blue and white figures waddling up the beach.
After the sighting we went back over the bridge and found a fish and chip store some where.
