Week 5 Highlights

Sovereign Hill : On this particular day we were off to enjoy the wonder of Sovereign Hill and all it’s splendor. When we arrived I was enthralled at the way they had formated and set out this 1850′s town and even more amazed at the fact that they had random people walking around all dressed up to make it seem alive.

After some thought we decided we definiely had to watch the musket firing, before this we had some time to kill so we went for a walk about. While walking we came across a school with children sitting inside and working while people like ourselves go stand aside and watch. Once we had finished watching these children do work we walked back down the immaculate main street to the demonstration assembly point.

While standing there more and more people flocked to get a good viewing point, then suddenly a tall, slightly old man, dressed in a troopers uniform and carrying an unloaded musket emerged from the small post office. He started talking a litle bit about troopers, then came the good bit, he started to load the gun then ,after warning us to cover our ears, he shot and it was so loud it could wake the deceased.

Mum thought that we should all get a photo of ourselves dressed in colonial clothes to remember our day here, as a result of this Mum went to book us in. We all continued walking around looking at all the amazing stuff that was on offer, there were leather shops, tin shops, a bar, coffin maker, a lollie shop, a newspaper shop, a general store and bowling alley. After looking around in most of these shops we had to go get our photograph taken as old colonial folk.

Once our picture had been taken we went to have our picnic lunch to fill our stomach with food, Delicious. When we had compleated our picnic lunch we walked back to the the old town, on our return all us kids were itching to try our luck at some gold panning. Sadly we were utter failures with Dad being the only one to find a tiny spec of gold. Becuase of our failure we went to go have a look at some gold being smelted. After looking at what we could of found we went for a horse and carriage ride then we left to return to our little nomadic home.

Carlton vs. Geelong : Yet again it was family night and tonights was by far was the the biggest family night yet. When we arrived at Spencer Street we looked around at the shops and went to one in particular called 4 The Game where we got all our AFL needs in one convineint store, we then went and had a healthy sub for dinner at Subway eat fresh.

It was then time for the game so we started walking over this mega bridge in an uber crowd towards the Etihad Stadium where Carlton was to vs. Geelong. On the way we passed heaps of buskers peforming to use to get as much money as possible, we also passed all these people trying to sell the footy record for only $5, bargin. When we entered the massive stadium we grabbed ourselves a seat then the game was under way. We were all confident that Carlton could win. Towards the end of the third quater it was evident that only a miriacle like the whole of the Geelong squad dying could make Carlton win. In the end it was a Horrible win for Geelong leaving all us Carlton People very depressed.

Have you found a warm place yet or has Dad organised for you to spend your whole trip in cold places.
