Jordan’s Week 4: In Review

07/08/2010 : Sadly, we had to leave Mildura and go to Adelaide. While we were driving we listened to Prince Capsicum and played on the laptops. When we arrived we began to set up but then we were forced to stop because Mum had hurt her lower back. She laid down for a while and the rest of us finished setting up then we took her to the hospital. This was also when we realised that the streets seemed to be more like some cryptic maze than a way to get from here to there. After Mum had been taken in we sat down and waited. Luckily enough the footy was on the small T.V in the waiting room. After what seemed to be forever Mum still hadn’t emerged so we got in the car and tried looking for a HJ’s but everything was closed so we headed back only to find she would be another hour or two. We got back in the car and headed out on another excursion and were successful in finding HJ’s this time. After filling our arteries with more junk we went back and went to sleep.

08/08/2010 : When we woke we found Mum had returned with a cocktail of drugs the nurses had given her. We decided to give Mum some peace and quiet to sleep so we went to the big smoke and looked around at some of the thousands of specialty stores. When we got back we found Mum had awoken so we went for another walk but only to the newsagent to get a copy of The Advertiser then we went back and slacked off for the rest of the day.

09/08/2010 : On this lovely day we went back to town and looked at an old house that belonged to Mr. Ayers and we learnt some information about him. Then we had another look at all the shops before going to the Adelaide markets. At the markets we looked at all the produce and other gastronomic delicacies. After wandering around I came to the conclusion that I was starving so we bought some food and ate. We left the market then Dad and I ran back to the car so we could get it serviced at Bridgestone. Once at Bridgestone, Emily insisted that we go to Koorong so she could get another instalment of the Christy Miller series, LAME! We went backto find the car still wasn’t completed so we watched T.V and had a free mocha. When the car had finished being serviced we went back to the caravan park and that was the end of another day.

10/08/2010 : Today was, by far, the day I’ve been looking forward to most while in Adelaide. The Barossa Valley was our destination today as we planned to look at all the fancy wineries, farms and Maggie Beer’s farm shop. On our travels we went through Houghton(Heres a who) which was a quaint little town and we stopped for photographic purposes before continuing to venture onto our destination. Our first stop was at The Giant Rocking Horse, which was also a toy factory, and I scored a reasonably priced pop gun. After buying some memorabilia we left and shortly after arrived at the Whispering Wall, Shhh! The Whispering Wall was amazing because of the way it had been constructed it provided very good acoustics. So good that you could stand at one end and listen to someone whisper at the other end. After getting whispered insults from Dad we left for the creek named Jacob. Jacob’s Creek was cool but not as fancy as the winery next to it. We went inside and had a peep then Mum and Dad had a taste of the wine before levaving. Seeing as Dad had been drinking wine I opted to drive for him, he laughed. Our final stop for the day was at Maggie Beer’s farm shop where we looked around and tasted some food and then looked at the kitchen where “The Cook and The Chef” is filmed. All up, today was LEGENDARY.

11/08/2010 : Once upon a time in a city far away there was a family called the Robinsons and on this glorious day they were leaving Adelaide, Hazah! Once we had left Adelaide we were shortly in Hahndorf the small historic German town. In Hahndorf they had everything I ever wanted; a puppet shop, chocolate shop, a small cheese shop and a German sausage shop. After buying a puppet and some cheese our day trip in Hahndorf had to come to a close. We headed for the Coorong but sadly storm boy wasn’t in town :( . We stayed the night at the Coorong, LEGENDARY.

12/08/2010
: We left the Coorong and went to Mount Gambier to find a little spot out of town and stayed there. Levi, Miriam and I played around the place trying to kill each other and steal the treasure. Then we went had dinner and then dozed off but not before reading the Ranger’s Apprentice.

13/08/2010 : The first thing on our agenda was to see a cave which was conveniently placed in the middle of the town. The cave was used as some guy’s personal rubbish tip before the whole town joined in until they stopped. Many years later the Lions Club cleaned it out so the genral public could use it. We went and had lunch at Subway before lifting anchor and setting sail to Port Fairy where we stayed at some caravan park next to a footy oval. While we were driving we passed a school where I saw some poor, little kid getting pummeled by some bigger kid with curly hair – reminds me of something.
