The beginning of week 3 we went back through Port Augusta to Quorn and stayed one night on the side of the road at a rest area. At Port Augusta we had our family night at Hungry Jacks! Woohoo, how fun 
lame! However, it was fun, even though there were lots of bogans.
The very next day we went from Quorn to the Flinders Ranges to stay 2 nights at a campground right smack bam in the middle of the mountains. After our two night stay we headed to Peterborough to stay one night at a rest area there.
On Tuesday morning we left to Broken Hill and stayed at a caravan park about 1 minute out of Silverton where Mad Max 2 was filmed! The caravan park was nice. It had a pony, some goats, a sheep and lots of birds. We set up the caravan had showers then went to the tourist bureau in town to find out some interesting things we can do tomorrow.
On Wednesday morning we went in to town and went to the Train Museum to have a look through some of the old trains and newish ones. After that we walked to the art museum with the world’s biggest picture. It truly is big, it is 12 metres high and about 100 metres long!
We then scurried to a local bakery called Mac’s Oven Foods. We made our way back to the car and drove to have a look at the Geo Museum which had information about minerals they mine in Broken Hill. The museum was pretty boring but had some cool stones and rocks and a Silver Tree. The Silver Tree was significant because silver is the most common resource in Broken Hill. After that we made our way to the Living Desert which had some sculptures made out of very hard rock. The sculptors came from all over the world to contribute. Each of them created their own special masterpiece. I was truly amazed by one of the sculptor’s stories because he didn’t finish his creation because he had to leave prematurely because his daughter had sadly passed away.
It was pretty gnarly especially because we took the walking trail but it was a nice 10 min jog with beautiful scenery.
Thursday we first made a stop at Pro Hart’s gallery which I found quiet interesting. Pro Hart first worked in the mines as a train driver. During his spare time doing that he would do some paintings. When he was 30 he married his wife who was 19 and they lived happily together and had five children. Unfortunately Pro Hart has passed away to go and have eternal life with the Heavenly Father. He even did some paintings about the crucifiction of Jesus Christ but did it in a quirky kind of way.
After visiting the gallery we left on our way to Mildura. We arrived at Mildura at about 1pm and stayed at a caravan park on the other side of the Murray River – the NSW side. Mildura was actually on the Victorian side. Whenever we crossed the bridge over the Murray River we’d be going into another state, at least we didn’t have to change the time all the time.
Friday morning we had already planned what we wanted to do for the day and the first stop was ORANGE WORLD! We went for a tour around the citrus farm that would normally sound really BORING but.. the guy that did the tour, Mario, was so friendly and funny the tour was more like a stand up comedy show. It was absolutley fantastic.
On the way back from the tour we stopped at Buronga Bakery and bought some bread rolls, apple twist and some bacon and cheese bun things. Everything was delicious and I enjoyed it. After lunch we went into town and had a look around until it started getting dark. We decided to go back home to our caravan and start cooking dinner. Family Night again we went to have supper at a cafe’ called Pronto Caffe. It was very nice and elegant apart from all the bogans roaming around outside, and the hoons. Apart from that it was a nice way to finish our week three.
