Week One Highlights

During the first week we crossed the Nullarbor and one of the highlights was driving the longest straight stretch of road – 90 miles (146.6km). I liked it because there were interesting things to see on the side of the road such as emus, roadside signs and Rooey2: a large kangaroo at the border of SA and WA.

We drove to Kalgoorlie to stay at a caravan park for two nights. I thought Kalgoorlie was big and cool. Kalgoorlie is most popular because it mines gold and most of it comes from the SuperPit. I bought ten dollars worth of flat leaf gold from the Town Hall as a souvenir.

We started playing the Nullarbor Links golf course at Kalgoorlie and ended at Ceduna. Along the way many of the golf holes were located at roadhouses. I wasn’t very good at first but started to hit the ball really well as each hole progressed. My best shot was at a town called Penong where my Dad did an incredible drive (much better than Tiger Woods) and then I took the next shot which landed straight on the green. We did the hole under par.

On Thursday, when all my classmates were heading back for their first day at school, we crossed the border of WA and SA. It was fun and I was jumping across from WA to SA and back. It was fun to be out of WA and be in SA because I’ve never been out of WA before.

I really would like to know how our soccer team is going. If you know can you please tell me? I am really missing you guys and I hope you are having a fun time in class. I want to say a big “HELLO” to Mrs King and let her know that I am learning heaps even though I’m not at school. I even spelled a word that Jordan couldn’t when we had a spelling bee in the car and I have been adding up the distances we’ve travelled really well.
